Police from the Darling Downs District are continuing to target dangerous driving behaviour as part of Operation Cold Snap, with a man charged following an alleged drink driving incident in Gatton on 27 June.

Around 10.50am police were called to Railway Street following reports of a man driving in a dangerous manner.

Upon arrival officers located a 32-year-old man allegedly parked in a driveway and asleep behind the wheel of a white Toyota Camry.

The man was subjected to a breath test where he allegedly returned a positive result. He was detained for a secondary test where he allegedly returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.198% – nearly four times over the legal alcohol limit.

A 32-year-old Gatton man was charged with one count of driving a vehicle under the influence and had his licence suspended.

He has been issued with a Notice to Appear in Gatton Magistrates Court on 28 July.

Operation Yankee Cold Snap is the Queensland Police Service’s major statewide road safety campaign running from June 27 through July 17. Coinciding with the winter school holidays, officers are actively patrolling, intercepting and enforcing road rules to target dangerous behaviours and hold those who put lives at risk to account.
