Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal traffic crash near St George this afternoon, 27 April.

At 12.40pm, officers were called to the Balonne Highway approximately 40 kilometres west of St George following reports a vehicle had struck a tree.

A driver and passenger were located deceased inside.

The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash, including the identity of the two people and the time the incident occurred.

There is no further information available at this time.
