Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch have charged two people following investigations into a suspicious fire at Bundall on 30 March.
Around 4.50am, police and emergency services were called to a property on Ashmore Road following report of a fire.
A neighbouring property was evacuated as a precaution, and a crime scene was declared.
It will be alleged a man attended the address, where he spread an accelerant, causing extensive damage to the building before leaving the scene on an electric scooter.
As part of ongoing investigations, police executed a search warrant at a South Brisbane motel on 2 April, where they located a man with severe burn injuries. He was transported to hospital for treatment.
Police also located a woman at the address who it will be alleged she assisted the man after the incident. Following further investigations, the woman was arrested and charged on 4 April.
A 25-year-old Southport man has been charged with one count of arson – structure or building and one count of wilful damage.

Both are due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on 20 April.
Investigations remain ongoing.
