Get ready, Toowoomba – Queensland Police Service (QPS) is hosting an action-packed Community Safety and Career Expo at Toowoomba TAFE Oval on Saturday, 18 April from 9am to midday.
This free, family-friendly event offers a unique opportunity for the public to connect with local police and partner agencies, discover community safety initiatives and explore exciting career pathways in policing.
Visitors can get up close with cutting-edge equipment and vehicles, experience interactive displays from specialist police units, and attend engaging seminars on safety and careers – plus much more.
Darling Downs District City Patrol Group Inspector Jerome Winslade said the expo was returning to Toowoomba after a tremendous community response for the past two years, bringing visitors from as far as Warwick and the Gold Coast.
“Policing is more than just a job- it’s a chance to make a real difference in people’s lives every single day. If you are looking for a career that challenges you, supports you and allows you to serve your community with purpose and pride, then policing is an incredibly rewarding path,” Inspector Winslade said.
“We’re always looking for people with integrity, resilience, and a genuine desire to help others to step forwards and join our ranks.
“For those interested in a career with the Queensland Police Service we’ll have police recruits available to answer questions about life at the academy and the application process.
Visitors can also learn more about personal safety at home and in the community by attending a seminar presented by District Crime Prevention Coordinators or by visiting the Volunteers in Policing team at the Mobile Police Beat van for information and resources.
“Whether you are considering a career change or looking for a fun and informative day out, there will be something for everyone at this event.”
Visitors can look forward to seeing teams from the Tactical Crime Squad, Highway Patrol, Forensic Crash Unit, Water Police, Public Safety Response Team, Rural and Stock Crime Squad and Mounted Unit, along with Queensland Ambulance Service, State Emergency Service (SES), and many more emergency service teams in action.
