Police have charged four teenagers following investigations into a dangerous driving incident in Mareeba on 10 April.
It will be alleged that around 11.25pm, police were responded to a stolen Mitsubishi ASX and a Nissan X-Trail, when they observed the ASX being driven in a dangerous manner through the intersection of Rankin and Byrnes Streets.
It will be alleged the group stole the Nissan X-Trail from a Whiting Street address, and the Mitsubishi ASX from a Jackson Drive address.
Around 3am on 11 April, the X-Trail was subject to a tyre deflation device before it was abandoned on Adams Street.
Several occupants fled the scene, and the 14-year-old Mareeba boy was taken into custody a short distance away. The ASX was located abandoned on Hales Street later that morning.
No one was injured during the incident.
The boy was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and attempted stealing.
He is due to re-appear before the Mareeba Children’s Court on 30 April.
On 13 April, police arrested a further three people.
A 13-year-old Mareeba girl was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
She was dealt with under provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
A 15-year-old Mareeba boy was charged with four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of enter dwelling and commit, two counts of trespass, and one count of attempted enter dwelling with intent.
He is due to appear in the Mareeba Childrens Court on 27 April.
A 14-year-old Mareeba girl was charged with one count each of stealing and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
She is due to appear in the Mareeba Childrens Court on 27 April.
Investigations remain ongoing to identify others involved.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the vehicles in the Mareeba area, or who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam vision, to come forward.
