Queensland’s frontline policing capability has been strengthened with 61 experienced officers sworn in to the Queensland Police Service (QPS) following their induction in Brisbane.
The newest graduates bring extensive policing experience from interstate and overseas jurisdictions, including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland.
Their diverse backgrounds include comprehensive frontline and community policing, along with specialist investigative and technical skills.
They are among of a growing number of experienced police officers making the move to Queensland, contributing to a strong and resilient service that reflects the state’s diverse communities.
Acting Commissioner of Police, Brett Pointing APM, welcomed the newest officers, highlighting the significant role they will play in supporting frontline operations and serving local communities.
“These officers bring a wealth of policing experience. They are prepared to face challenging situations and are dedicated to building safer communities,” Acting Commissioner Pointing said.
“Their decision to make Queensland their new home reflects the state’s appeal with its stunning landscapes and exceptional lifestyle making it a highly desirable place to live and work.
“We are fortunate to benefit from the diverse backgrounds and fresh perspectives these dedicated officers bring as they continue their policing careers here in Queensland.”
Constable Tom Clayworth brings a valuable skillset to the QPS following a dedicated career in the criminal justice system, including seven years with the Australian Federal Police (AFP).
“During my time with the AFP, I primarily worked within child protection investigations, frequently alongside QPS colleagues,” Constable Clayworth said.
“In this role, I developed advanced skills, including evidence extraction from digital devices, and specialist interviewing techniques to support vulnerable people.
“I’ve always enjoyed working on victim-based crime and within a community policing context, and I’m looking forward to connecting with my community in a frontline policing role.
“The QPS is highly regarded amongst the international law enforcement community, and I’m proud to start the next chapter of my career as a Queensland police officer.”

Constable Clare Hunt-Brown served nine years on the frontline with the UK’s West Yorkshire Police, responding to emergency calls for service and supporting victims of crime.
“In the UK, we relied heavily on communication skills, whether diffusing high-pressure situations or building community trust,” said Constable Hunt-Brown.
“I look forward to combining those skills with the training I’ve received at the QPS academy, to connect with and support the Queensland community,”
“I have family living in Queensland, so joining the QPS is an incredible opportunity to continue the career I’m so passionate about, while being closer to them and giving my own family a better quality of life. The outdoor lifestyle is something that’s really important to us.”
Constable Hunt-Brown’s dedication to protecting others has already been recognised when she was awarded a Humane Award in the UK for her courageous actions that saved a man’s life during a dangerous situation.
The newest graduates will hit the ground running when they start their duties across the state from Coomera to Cairns.
