Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch have charged three people following a stolen vehicle incident at Oxenford this morning, 27 March.

Around 7.42am, police received reports of a silver Mitsubishi Outlander allegedly being driven erratically southbound on the Pacific Motorway near the Helensvale north off-ramp.

The vehicle exited onto Hope Island Road before travelling through Helensvale and back towards Oxenford, where officers successfully deployed a tyre deflation device near Heathwood Drive.

The vehicle continued along Maudsland Road before coming to a stop on the side of the road due to the damaged tyres near the intersection of Cobb & Co Road.

Police will further allege that after the vehicle stopped, an 18-year-old male passenger approached a member of the public who had stopped to assist and threatened him with a knife, demanding his vehicle.

The victim exited his Ford Ranger utility, before a 14-year-old boy allegedly attempted to start the vehicle and a 14-year-old girl entered the rear seat. The vehicle subsequently rolled backwards into another vehicle.

Upon arrival, police arrested all three of the alleged offenders at the scene. A knife was located and seized from the vehicle.

Investigations indicate the Mitsubishi Outlander had been stolen from Daniell Close at Ripley around 3.45am today.

A 14-year-old Maroochydore boy has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicles, unlawful entry of vehicle for committing indictable offence used/threatened violence whilst armed in company, robbery armed/in company, driving of motor vehicle without a driver licence and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

A 14-year-old Lowood girl has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicles, robbery armed/in company and unlawful entry of vehicle for committing indictable offence used/threatened violence whilst armed in company.

Both are due to appear at Southport Children’s Court tomorrow, 28 March.

An 18-year-old Booval man has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicles aircraft or vessels, unlawful entry of vehicle for committing indictable offence used/threatened violence whilst armed in company, robbery armed/in company and receiving tainted property.

He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow, 28 March.
