The Queensland Police Service (QPS) officially welcomed more than 18 officers into newly commissioned roles during last week’s Appointment Ceremony held at Police Headquarters.
Among those recognised during the ceremony were Assistant Commissioner Rhys Wildman, Emergency Management and Coordination Command, and Assistant Commissioner Adam Guild, Central Region.
Assistant Commissioner Guild will be based at Rockhampton overseeing all aspects of policing for the Central Region.
Assistant Commissioner Guild has been in the QPS for 28 years and has served throughout the state including leadership roles in several portfolios including Road Policing and Regional Support Command (RPRSC), and as the District Officer for Moreton District.
“I have a strong regional policing background, so I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to the Central Region to work with and support the staff to tackle the complex and ever evolving challenges faced in regional areas,’’ Assistant Commissioner Guild said.

Assistant Commissioner Rhys Wildman has 38 years’ combined policing experience across Queensland and New South Wales and has served in several Acting Assistant Commissioner roles in the QPS.
He has led teams on the delivery of state-wide reform initiatives including Jack’s Law as well overseeing capital projects for the QPS including the Queensland Police Memorial in Brisbane City Botanical Gardens and the Bob Atkinson Operational Capabilities Centre (BAOCC) at Wacol.
“It has been a privilege to work with some committed and highly skilled teams to lead and deliver some substantial programs and projects for the QPS and I’m now looking forward to this latest challenge as keeping Queenslanders safe is a priority especially when it comes to emergency management,’’ Assistant Commissioner Wildman said.
The appointment of the two Assistant Commissioners to their positions recognises their unwavering dedication to the QPS and enables them to continue their passionate work towards delivering a safer Queensland.
Several senior executives were also officially welcomed into their new roles as part of the ceremony as well as newly commissioned officers including Inspectors, Superintendents and a Chief Superintendent.

Acting Commissioner Brett Pointing said it was important to acknowledge the achievements of the QPS’ commissioned officers and senior executive members.
“Our leaders play a pivotal role in empowering the people around them to reach their full potential and share the QPS’ vision with purpose and conviction,” Acting Commissioner Pointing said.
“Their leadership will help guide our organisation as we continue to adapt to the challenges of modern policing, ensuring we keep our communities safe.
“These appointments are a testament to their exemplary professionalism and commitment to the Queensland community.”
