Police have charged a 51-year-old Alice River man following an incident on Nathan Street yesterday, 26 March.
It will be alleged a traffic incident occurred at an intersection on Duckworth and Dalrymple Road between a red Chevrolet ute and a white Ford hatchback around 7.40am.
It will further be alleged the driver of the ute, a 51-year-old Alice River man, and the driver of the hatchback, a 68-year-old Shaw man, engaged in a verbal dispute, before pulling over to the side of the road on Nathan Street at which time a physical altercation ensued.
It is alleged during the altercation the 68-year-old fell through the rear window of the hatchback, causing him to receive lacerations to his head and arm.
The 68-year-old was transported to Townsville University Hospital for treatment.
The 51-year-old man was charged with one count of grievous bodily harm, one count of serious assault person over 60 and one count of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence.
He is scheduled to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on 10 April.
