Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch are continuing to appeal for information following three suspicious fires in Darra and Inala in 2024.

New information received by investigators in March 2026 suggests the fires may be linked.

At 2:00am on 26 June 2024, police and emergency services were called to a Kokoda Street address in Darra following reports of a fire.

Investigations suggest the fire started in a minibus parked on the property, then spread to another vehicle and a house.

The vehicles and house sustained major damage.

At approximately 1:30am on 28 December 2024, police and emergency services were called in relation to an engulfed building on Japonica Street and another fire at a dwelling at the Bamboo Street address in Inala.

The fire at Bamboo Street was quickly extinguished, and the house sustained only superficial damage.

The dwelling on Japonica Street, Inala, was completely engulfed and destroyed.

No one was injured during any of the incidents.

Police have previously issued appeals for information on each fire and are renewing their appeal in light of new information.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Simon Ball encourages anyone with potential information to come forward.

“Even if the information you have seems small, it may be the piece of the puzzle that will assist our investigation. If you have any knowledge of who is responsible, the investigators would like to speak to you.”

“If you have witnessed someone or something that may be relevant and you have not yet spoken to police, or have other information that may relate, we urge you to contact police.”
