Man charged over dangerous operation of a vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, Ashmore
Police have charged a man who allegedly drove his Ute on its rims, at high-speed, whilst under the influence at Ashmore in the early hours of 9 November.
It will be alleged that around 5am, officers were attending to an unrelated matter on Cotlew Street, when a 2017 Toyota Hilux utility drove past them at speed, with both front tyres missing causing significant sparks, before crashing a short distance up the road.
Officers attended the crash-site where they located the damaged vehicle down an embankment and arrested the driver.
The man did not sustain any serious injuries and was transported to hospital in a stable condition.
Following investigations, it will be alleged that the man drove the vehicle from Surfers Paradise to Ashmore, colliding with several vehicles.
A 21-year-old Nerang man has now been charged with one count each of drink-driving and dangerous operation of a vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.
He is scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow, 20 March.
