Police are appealing for information as they continue to investigate two reported sexual assaults in Mackay in February.

Initial investigations indicate the first incident occurred between 13 and 21 February, when a 27-year-old woman was approached by an unknown man while in the Bluewater Trail area near Illuka Park.

The second incident is reported to have occurred on 3 February, when a 53-year-old woman was approached by an unknown man in the vicinity of Town Beach.

In both incidents, the women were approached from behind by the man who used violence before sexually assaulting them.

Both matters have been reported to police and the women are receiving appropriate support.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the Bluewater Trail, Illuka Park, or Town Beach areas around the relevant dates and noticed anything suspicious to come forward.

Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam, or other footage from nearby streets, car parks, or walking tracks.

Police are conducting proactive patrols of the area while investigations continue.

As a precaution, police encourage members of the public using walking trails and beach areas to remain aware of their surroundings and consider exercising with others where possible.

Investigations remain ongoing.
