North Brisbane District have charged 179 people on 321 offences during operations in Brisbane north.
Separate operations have run additional proactive patrols in high foot-traffic areas and targeted late night property crime.
Since 21 February, officers conducting proactive patrols, targeting late night property crime and vehicle theft, as part of Operation Grimlock have charged 42 people on 84 offences.
Shortly before 12.30am on 9 March, Boondall Tactical Crime Squad officers conducting proactive patrols of Chermside identified a suspicious black Mercedes stopped on Davenport Street.
Officers intercepted the vehicle when it is alleged the occupant assaulted police while attempting to flee.
A taser was successfully deployed and the man was taken into custody.
A search of a vehicle is alleged to have located a homemade taser, a loaded slam gun, ammunition, methylamphetamine, drug utensils, and a small quantity of counterfeit money.
A 47-year-old Macgregor man has been charged with multiple offences including one count each of obstruct police officer, assault police officer, contravene requirement police officer, possessing dangerous drugs Schedule 1 drug quantity of or exceeding Schedule 3 but less than Schedule 4, possess utensils or pipes etc for use, possess property suspected or having being used in connection with the commission of a drug offence, possess tainted property , unlawful possession of weapons category R weapon, authority required to possess explosives, unlawful possession or weapons category A, and possessing counterfeit money.
The man was remanded in custody and is expected to reappear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 22 April.
Operation Thunderstrike returned to Brisbane’s north on 1 January and to date has resulted in 137 offenders being charged on 237 offences.
The operation was launched as a district-led initiative targeting public-order offences in high foot traffic areas including Brisbane City, Chermside and Toowong shopping centres and public transport hubs.
At 12.22pm on 26 February, it is alleged two teens stole products from a Brisbane City convenience store and made verbal threats towards an employee whilst armed.
The duo fled to a nearby bus station where they were arrested by officers conducting proactive patrols.
A 15-year-old Greenslopes boy has been charged with one count each of robbery armed and unauthorised dealing with shop goods. He is expected to reappear before Brisbane Childrens Court on 24 March.
A 16-year-old Greenslopes boy has been charged with one count each of possession of a knife in a public place and unauthorised dealing with shop goods. He is expected to appear before Brisbane Childrens Court on 13 March.
Both local operations remain ongoing and are further supported by Operation Yankee Forge, which provides state-wide intel and specialist capabilities support to prevent, disrupt, and investigate unlawful use, robbery, and unlawful entry offences.
