Officers from the Tablelands Property Crime Unit, Tablelands Criminal Investigation Branch, and Far North Tactical Crime Squad arrested a 28-year-old man and 24-year-old woman following incidents in Townsville and Mareeba between 28 February and 8 March.

It will be alleged around 2pm on 7 March, the pair entered a transfer station in Atherton in a silver Holden Commodore and approached two people in a blue Toyota Yaris and threatened them with a metal bar, before stealing the Yaris.

No one was injured.

The Holden Commodore was later found abandoned on Carrington Road.

Around 9.30am on 8 March, the Toyota Yaris was subject to a tyre deflation device on Tinaroo Creek Road.

The man and woman were taken into custody in nearby bushland a short time later.

Police allege the pair were involved in several offences over the last week, including fuel thefts from Burdell and Atherton, an attempted burglary at a Mount Low address, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in Mareeba and Atherton.

The 28-year-old Townsville man was charged with three counts of stealing, and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, threatening with violence, attempted enter dwelling with intent, driving of motor vehicle without a driver licence, and receiving tainted property.

The 24-year-old Townsville woman was charged with four counts of stealing, two counts each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and evasion, and one count each of contravene direction or requirement, receiving tainted property, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and failure to appear in accordance with undertaking.

Both were remanded in custody to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court today, 9 March.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam of the Toyota Yaris and Holden Commodore in Atherton or Mareeba between 6 March and 8 March.
