A crime scene has been declared in Woombye following a police involved shooting this afternoon, 4 March.
Officers were called to the Sunshine Motorway following a crash near the Sippy Downs exit, when the vehicle fled the scene.
Police tracked the car to Nambour Connection Road when the driver got out of the vehicle and approached officers while armed with a gun, and was subsequently shot by police.
Officers provided first aid at the scene, before the man was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
The matter will be investigated by the Ethical Standards Command with oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
