South Brisbane District (SBD) police have charged 1,391 people with 4,072 offences during Operation Xray Steeler since its launch in October 2025.
The operation is focused on preventing and solving crimes that cause harm to communities in SBD and reducing the number of victims of crime.
Increased intelligence-led patrols have aided in the detection and arrest of 1,120 adults on 2,979 offences, and 271 juveniles on 1,093 offences.
Notable charges include unlawful use of a motor vehicle, break ins and robberies, assault, drink driving, drug driving, possession of weapon, drug offences and domestic violence offences.
SBD police are continuing increased, high-visibility patrols where intelligence indicates offences may be more likely to occur.
Operation Xray Steeler is in addition to the tireless daily efforts of general duties and specialist police across Brisbane’s south who keep their local communities safe.
SBD District Officer Acting Chief Superintendent Heath McQueen said the operation results to date show police are targeting the right locations at the right time to detect and deter offending.
“These results highlight the tireless efforts of specialist and general duties police across Brisbane’s south, in disrupting crime and keeping local communities safe,” Acting Chief Superintendent McQueen said.
“We know that taking both a high-visibility and covert approach to identifying and preventing crime is key to reducing the number of victims and the fear of crime.
“We will continue our efforts to put offenders before the courts, and ensure the community is, and feels safe.”
Operation Xray Steeler remains ongoing.
The district-led operation will be further supported by the newly established Operation Yankee Forge, providing state-wide intel and specialist capabilities support to prevent, disrupt, and investigate unlawful use, robbery and unlawful entry offences.
