Officers from Moreton North Property Crime Taskforce have charged a 52-year-old man with multiple offences following an incident at a Caboolture museum where Egyptian artefacts were stolen on Friday, 13 February.

At approximately 3am, police will allege a man smashed a window of The Abbey Place property and took a quantity of priceless Egyptian artefacts before leaving the scene.

Around 1.30pm yesterday, 14 February, police located a vehicle of interest in a car park of Redland Bay ferry terminal. That vehicle, a Toyota HiAce camper, was seized and subject of a search by police.

Detectives found all of the stolen Egyptian artefacts except a wooden cat sculpture. The items were recovered intact, with only minor damage noted. 

Around 7pm, a 52-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on Russell Island and transported to Cleveland Watchhouse. Police will allege the man was found in possession of the last missing artefact, the wooden cat sculpture.

The 52-year-old man has been charged with enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, and three counts of wilful damage.

He was also charged with trespass and assault occasioning bodily harm in relation to an incident at a Hastings Street, Noosa property on 12 February.

Police will allege the man was trespassing on the property and assaulted a resident when asked to leave. 

He is due to appear in Cleveland Magistrates Court tomorrow, 16 February.
