The State Flying Squad (SFS) has completed a week-long deployment in South Brisbane with 11 police officers and two intelligence officers travelling to provide an investigative surge capacity to local police, alongside other specialist units including the Public Safety Response Team (PSRT).

Over the week, SFS officers charged 21 people with 93 offences including unlawful entry, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, burglary and drug offences.

During the deployment, the SFS executed a search warrant at an Acacia Ridge residence on February 6, in

collaboration with local officers, PSRT and other specialist units.

There it will be alleged they located cocaine and arrested a 30-year-old Acacia Ridge man, charging him with two counts of offence to buy S4/S8 medications and one count each of possess dangerous drugs, possess anything used in the commission, and contravening order to access information.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in Richlands Magistrates Court on March 6.

They also executed an arrest warrant for a 17-year-old boy who had allegedly been evading police by hiding in a roof.

He was located and arrested on February 5 in collaboration with local police and other specialist units and charged with five counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts each of face masked and enter dwelling and commit offence, two counts of enter premises and commit and one count each of receiving tainted property and enter dwelling with intent by break.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in Richlands Childrens Court on March 26.

Detective Inspector Joe Nixon said the intelligence-led deployment showcased the fantastic results that can be achieved through collaboration between local police, and specialist units.

“The SFS are focussed on improving community safety by preventing repeat offenders from continuing to cause harm,” Detective Inspector Nixon said.

“We amplified the great work local police are already achieving by providing extra resources, utilising our in-built intelligence unit and collaborating with other specialist units to put pressure on criminals across South Brisbane.”

“We’ll continue to identify crime hotspots across Queensland and provide a rapid police response when needed.”
