Police have charged 64 people with 119 offences following the conclusion of a six-month investigation targeting weapons and the supply of dangerous drugs in the South West.
During operation Xray Paralax, detectives from St George Criminal Investigation Branch with assistance from general duties officers and the South West Tactical Crime Squad executed 14 search warrants in St George, Dirranbandi and Mungindi locating and seizing an Anschutz 1416 .22 rifle and components of a category H pistol, six knives and drugs including methylamphetamine, cannabis and GHB.
The operation also involved targeted vehicle intercepts and random drug testing.
Around 1.30pm on 6 January, police conducting patrols in St George intercepted a white Mitsubishi Outlander on the corner of Alfred Street and Robert Street.
A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a quantity of methylamphetamines and drug utensils.
A 26-year-old St George man was charged with one count each of possessing dangerous drugs, possess property suspected of having been used in the commission of a drug offence and possess utensils or pipes for use.
He is due to appear in St George Magistrates Court on 17 February.
Around 9.30pm on 12 January, police conducting patrols in St George intercepted a silver Mazda 6 on the corner of Alfred Street and Robert Street.
A search of the man allegedly uncovered a quantity of methylamphetamines.
A 44-year-old St George man was issued a drug diversion in relation to possess dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine).
Around 9pm on 17 January, officers intercepted a white Mitsubishi Triton on the Balonne Highway at St George as part of a targeted roadside drug test operation. The driver, a 20-year-old St George man, allegedly returned a positive reading.
He was issued a notice to appear and charged with one count of driving while a relevant drug is present and is expected to appear in St George Magistrates Court on 17 March.
