Hendra Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man with attempted murder following investigations into a wounding incident in Stafford last night, 29 January.
It will be alleged that around 9.50pm a 20-year-old Stafford man and a 30-year-old Boonah man, known to each other, were involved in a physical altercation at a Brennan Street address.
During the altercation, it is further alleged the Stafford man stabbed the Boonah man several times in his back and neck before fleeing the scene in a Holden stolen from the address.
At approximately 9.54pm, police and emergency services received reports of the incident and quickly arrived at the scene.
The Boonah man was transported to hospital in serious condition.
A knife was seized at the scene.
Investigations led to the arrest of the Stafford man in Wavell Heights shortly after 11.30pm.
It will be further alleged the Stafford man had earlier stolen fuel from a service station on Stafford Road and driven into the window of a Gympie Road building, before crashing into a nearby parked car on Edinburgh Castle Road where he was later located by police.
The Stafford man was transported to hospital for treatment under police guard.
Police have not received any other reports of injuries.
The Stafford man has since been charged with one count each of attempt to murder domestic violence offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, dangerous operation of a vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and driving of a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence.
The matter is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow, 31 January.
Investigations are ongoing.
