Detectives from the Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a 23-year-old man following an emergency declaration at Bellbird Park yesterday, 22 January.

Officers were initially called to Jones Road shortly after 2:30pm following reports of an armed man threatening another man.

Due to public safety concerns, an emergency declaration was made shortly after 3pm, and specialist police engaged with a 23-year-old man at an address on the corner of Jones Road and Redbank Plains Road. 

The man was taken into custody without incident around 4:30pm.

A crime scene was subsequently declared at the address, and the emergency declaration was revoked just after 5pm.

There were no reports of injuries as a result of the incident.

The 23-year-old Nundah man has been charged with two counts of going armed so as to cause fear, and one count each of dangerous conduct with a weapon, unlawful possession of weapon and obstruct police.

He is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court today, 23 January.
