Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) detectives have charged two Willow Vale men following separate investigations into alleged drug production and possession.
On 21 January, police executed a search warrant at a property on Ruffles Road, Willow Vale, as part of an investigation into drugs and firearms.
During the search, officers allegedly located a hydroponic grow tent inside a bedroom, along with a crossbow, a butterfly knife, ammunition, fireworks, cannabis, prescription medications and drug-related utensils.
A 48-year-old Willow Vale man was charged with two counts each of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing category M weapons and possessing explosives, and one count each of producing dangerous drugs, possessing medicines, possessing tainted property, possessing things used in the commission of a crime, and possessing utensils.
He was issued with a notice to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on 18 February.
In a separate matter, police executed a search warrant at a property on Coulter Road, Willow Vale.
During the search, investigators allegedly located a sophisticated underground bunker concealed beneath a concrete floor, accessed via a remote-controlled hidden elevator.
Inside the bunker, police allegedly found multiple rooms fitted out for hydroponic cannabis cultivation, including grow rooms, drying rooms, and a packaging area.
Investigators allegedly located 24 mature cannabis plants and a further 20 immature plants, along with 10.5 kilograms of cannabis packaged in heat-sealed bags. A significant quantity of cannabis was also located in a dedicated drying room.
A 45-year-old Willow Vale man was charged with one count each of producing dangerous drugs, supplying dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of crime, and stealing.
He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on 26 February.
Investigations into both matters are ongoing.
