Police have charged a 41-year-old man with drug and weapon offences as part of an ongoing operation targeting the supply of dangerous drugs in the South West District.
On 9 December general duties officers from Charleville police station along with detectives from the Charleville Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and South West District Tactical Crime Squad (TCS) intercepted a removalist truck travelling on Wills Street in Charleville.
It is alleged when officers searched the vehicle, they discovered close to 500 grams of methylamphetamines, three firearms, drug utensils and $2300 in cash.
Police will further allege the driver returned a positive roadside drug test (RDT).
A 41-year-old Sunnybank Hills man has been charged with three counts of unlawful possession of firearms, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of possess loaded firearm in public place, possess suspected proceeds of drug offence, possess property used in connection with drug crime, possess drug utensil and drug driving.
He is due to appear in Richlands Magistrates Court on 10 December.
South West District Detective Inspector Andrew Trenerry said while these results are promising, police remain unrelenting in their work to prevent crime across the District.
“We are committed in continuing our efforts to detect, disrupt and deter any criminal activity that causes widespread harm to our residents.
“Anyone found to be responsible for serious offences of this nature can expect to face significant charges and zero tolerance from investigators.” Detective Inspector Trenerry said.
