Police have charged a 35-year-old Parramatta Park man following a serious assault in Manunda yesterday, 6 November.
Officers were called to Alfred and Koch Street around 1.40pm following reports a 50-year-old Manoora man sustained life-threatening head injuries.
Cairns West police administered first aid before emergency services arrived, and the man was transported to Cairns Hospital in a critical condition.
Around 8.45pm, the 35-year-old man was located on Henley Street and taken into custody.
He was charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.
The man was refused bail and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning, 7 November.
Investigations are continuing.
