Police have charged a 45-year-old man following the death of a man in Manly West yesterday, 28 September.
Around 1am yesterday morning, a 44-year-old man sustained a number of stab wounds near a shopping centre car park on Trevally Crescent.
He was declared deceased upon police arrival.
It is alleged a 45-year-old man fled the scene on foot before grabbing an 18-year-old woman not known to him and attempting to sexually assault her on Miles Crescent around 2am.
A member of the public intervened and called police who quicky responded and arrested the man at the scene.
The woman was transported to Redlands Hospital for treatment.
A 45-year-old Wynnum man has been charged with one count each of murder, assault with intent to commit rape, indecent act in any place to which the public are permitted access and obstruct a police officer.
He is due to appear before Cleveland Magistrates Court today, 29 September.
