Police are appealing for public assistance following a serious traffic crash involving a truck and a car in Sandy Pocket yesterday, 24 August.

Emergency Services were called to the Bruce Highway, around Sandy Pocket Road, at approximately 3:12pm, following reports a white Mazda and a B-Double truck travelling in opposite directions had crashed.

The Mazda driver, a man in his 20s, was airlifted to the Cairns Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the truck, a man in his 40s, was not physically injured.

Anyone who may have witnessed the vehicles leading up to the incident, including anyone with relevant vision, is urged to contact police.

Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit (FCU) are ongoing.
