Hendra Criminal Investigation Branch have charged five people, including four teenagers, following the intercept of a stolen vehicle on Thursday night through Operation Grimlock.
Operation Grimlock is an ongoing operation in the city’s north targeting late-night property crime and vehicle theft.
Police sighted an allegedly stolen BMW travelling in Brisbane’s north around 10.30pm on 7 August.
A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed in Stafford, with the occupants allegedly continuing to drive the vehicle to the intersection of Hodgkinson Street and Unwin Street, Chermside where they exited the car and fled on foot.
Police and dog squad commenced a track and took them into custody nearby.
It is alleged the BMW was stolen from Forest Lake on 6 August.
A 21-year-old Inala man has been charged with eight offences including Fail to comply with duties of driving involved in a crash and give the drivers required particulars to any other driver, unlawful use of motor vehicle, driving without a driver licence (suspended), evasion offence at night in company, dangerous operation of a vehicle, trespass, stealing and receiving tainted property.
He is expected to reappear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 10 September.
A 14-year-old Acacia Ridge boy has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs (cannabis), and possess property suspected of having been acquired for the purpose of committing a drug offence (pipe).
He is due to reappear before Richlands Childrens Court on 28 August.
A 13-year-old Stafford boy has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and obstruct police officer.
He is due to reappear before Brisbane Childrens Court on 12 August.
Two 14-year-old boys from Inala and Caboolture have been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
The pair are expected to appear before Brisbane Childrens Court on 15 August.
