Police have charged a 26-year-old man following an investigation into a fatal traffic crash in Mount Sheridan on December 24 last year.
It will be alleged a silver Mazda 3 travelling on Hardy Road left the road and crashed into a chain mesh fence with a metal pole along the top of the fence.
A 23-year-old Edmonton man who was a passenger of the Mazda, died at the scene.
The driver and two other occupants were treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.
Following an extensive investigation by the Far North District Forensic Crash Unit, a 26-year-old Edmonton man was issued a Notice to Appear on Friday, June 27.
He has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death while adversely affected, driving a motor vehicle while relevant drug is present, and driving a motor vehicle while unlicenced.
The man is due to appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on July 16.
