Police are appealing for information following a serious assault at Edmonton overnight, May 18.

Initial investigations indicate that around 9.10pm, a 27-year-old Cooya Beach man was leaving a Hancock Street address before he was assaulted by a person known to him.

The man was located a short time later at Ravizza Drive and was transported to Cairns Hospital with serious injuries.

Officers are appealing to anyone who may have relevant information or CCTV/dashcam video footage to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
