A 62-year-old man missing from Tinaroo Dam in Yungaburra since yesterday, April 13, has been located deceased following an extensive search.

The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious, and police will prepare a report for the coroner.

Emergency services were called just after 3.30pm following reports the man had failed to resurface after swimming out to assist two children on kayaks.

A search was conducted yesterday until approximately 8pm and reconvened at first light this morning.

Search assets utilised during the search included police on foot, Cairns Water Police, SES volunteers, dive squad, QGAIR Rescue 510 helicopter, and QFD Swift Water Rescue crews.

Support services have been offered to the family of the man.
