The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a serious traffic crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian at Strathpine, Saturday, January 18.

Initial investigations indicate at about 10:00pm a white Mazda 3 hatchback was travelling South along Gympie Road when it has struck a pedestrian crossing the road.  The pedestrian, an 85-year-old Strathpine man suffered life threatening injuries and was conveyed to the Royal Brisbane hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the Mazda, a 46-year-old woman, was not physically injured and was assessed at the scene by paramedics.   She is currently assisting police with their enquires into the crash.

Police are appealing to witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
