The Forensic Crash Unit will prepare a report for the Coroner following a fatal traffic crash in Edmonton, on November 25.
Preliminary information indicates a Holden Rodeo collided with a freight train at the intersection of the Bruce Highway and Swallow Road at around 6.30am.
The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old Bentley Park man, and the passenger, an 18-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries and were taken to Cairns Hospital.
No one on the train was injured.
The 18-year-old man died in hospital this morning, November 27.
The 40-year-old man remains in a critical condition.
Anyone with information or relevant vision is urged to contact police.
Investigations are continuing.
