People coming into South Australia from Victoria will have to get tested for COVID-19 on arrival and will be banned from attending high-risk locations, such as aged care homes, until they have a negative result.

Police Commissioner Grant Stevens issued the new order, which begins at midnight tonight, at a late press conference on Wednesday, saying concerns about the situation in New South Wales and Victoria had prompted increased restrictions.

Freight drivers coming into the state will need to produce evidence they hve had a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of their arrival, and if they do not have one they will be required to get tested within 24 hours.

Commissioner Stevens said he was also concerned about the lack of people using QR codes to check into venues.

He said there were 25 check-ins at the service station in Tailem Bend during an exposure period on Friday, but there were 76 credit card transactions in that time.

More to come.
